Reported Glitches from Soul Knight Patch
While there are a lot of goodies and new perks from the latest patch, let’s start with a few problems encountered by some Soul Knight players with the new patch.
Soul Knight Apple App stops responding during combat
A bug reported by user puzzlebune on Reddit occurred on Apple phones where the App stops responding to touch controls for a brief moment. To quote the user:
“Issue: App stops responding to touch controls for a second or two occasionally during combat. It can happen at seemingly anytime during a fight, but it definitely happens more frequently at later levels, even as often as every 10 seconds. I just stop moving and shooting. The left movement circle and buttons on the right just stop responding, or they will only react for a split second. My wife is having the same problem, but less often. We both play on iPhones.”
Infinite Gashapon Mechanic?
Another reported bug by user Andriy99 exclaimed the infinite use of the Gashapon mechanic by saving your progress and repeatedly buying until you get nothing. With the new update, it seems you can infinitely use the Gashapon machine as much as you want, and merely saving your progress and loading can allow you to use it again.
Unchangeable Default Engineer Weapon Skin
A weapon skin bug by user Profsnipe complains of the default skin of the engineer being stuck on the Ruler Huang Tian despite continuing to change skins.
Oh no! Unreachable Stuck Coins
Another bug callout by user tanjingwei31 reports that sometimes coins can be stuck outside the boundaries of the playable area.
Player Out of Bounds
A glitch by user asianm3me caused his player to go out of bounds after dodging and being knocked back as he was swarmed by enemies.
A video by user cetanddog shows a glitch with the Nian boss spawning a silhouette which continued to fight even though the boss was dead. It continued to move around and attack and the dead body could also spawn new bullets which can hit the player and rendering the level unplayable as the silhouette could not be damaged.
Soul Knight Fixes on Patch
Now that we’ve got the bugs out of the way, let’s cover the fixes on the new 2.6.5 patch!
No more forced cooldown after crit for Vampire first weapon
Previously, the Crimson Wine Glass, the starting weapon for the Vampire character, would have an immediate forced cooldown after a critical hit to an enemy. This time it does not have that cooldown that caused delays for some players that mained the Vampire.
Prehistoric Colossus Arrow launchers No Longer Targetable
Previously, Stone Archers fighting alongside the Prehistoric Colossus (a boss that could possibly be found at level 1-5 at the Relics biome) could be targeted by homing weapons. It would waste energy now due to the Stone Archers being invincible.
No More Targeting When Being Out Of Room
Some Soul Knight players are known to exploit this glitch before by clearing out some enemies before even entering a room.
No More Attachment Stacks
Attachments are obtained from the Weaponsmith and cost gold. The attachment given by the Weaponsmith is always compatible with the weapon equipped by the player when interacting with the Weaponsmith. Previously, you could stack up attachments which would drastically increase the power of your weapon before heading down the cellars.
No more Damage Stacking Skill+Attachment for Berserker
Back then, you could stack your damage from your chosen weapons with Berserker’s second skill and known condition: fire speed while attachments are being equipped. In this patch, it is a thing of the past.
Tips in Playing Soul Knight for New Players
New to Soul Knight? No problem! Everyone has equal opportunities to slash and shoot on aliens!
Go for Mage, Assassin or Rogue!
For starters, using the Wizard, Assassin or Rogue characters are recommended for first time players.
Use the wizard’s ability to unleash a lightning strike that will instantly kill your enemies. But don’t forget that this type of attack is only capable of quickly taking out normal enemies, not bosses, so whatever you do, don’t try this on a boss because you’ll probably end up getting wasted.
The assassin is probably one of the best characters, because it’s bulletproof and has a much longer invincibility span than other popular heroes in the game, such as the Rogue, for example. The assassin has a truly unique set of skills that makes him really dangerous, make sure to try him out at least once in your lifetime to see what he’s capable of. Although he is pricey, he’s totally worth it.
A favorite within the Soul Knight community, the Rogue is not as expensive as the Assassin, in fact, it’s one of the cheapest characters to unlock, and it has a pretty unique combat roll that upgrades every second, which gives you quite that bladed edge you need when you’re facing bosses. Although the Rogue is pretty amazing in his own right, if you ever have to choose between the Assassin and the Rogue, go for the Assassin instead!
3 Best Weapon Choices for Soul Knight Beginners
Weapons are items that can be used to defeat enemies, break crates, and carry out other actions. There are a total of 324 weapons in the game. For beginners, here are some basic tips and tricks which are vital to completing a level.
Use Melee Weapons as a Defense Tool. Fast melee weapons will allow you to block bullets if used intelligently. You can use melee weapons to protect yourself from bullets fired from any weapon. This trick is especially helpful when you’re facing off against bosses, because they like to come at you with weapons that spray lots of bullets.
Use the Vulcan rifle to take out bosses from a distance. Don’t forget to attach the scope onto the rifle, otherwise, you won’t be able to zoom in, which will decrease your accuracy significantly.
Buy SMG grenades as soon as you can. SMG grenades allow you to deal a lot of damage and take out bosses pretty quickly and wipe out enemy hordes in an instant! To make the most out of these grenades simply hold down the fire button and quickly release it every millisecond. This technique will allow you to basically spray grenades all over your enemies in order to get more kills faster.
Do Early Chest Unlocks!
Unlock the Chest early on. This is a super powerful tip, because if you take this to heart, you will be able to start working every single dungeon with a common weapon. Each time you enter a dungeon, you’ll have a common weapon in your hand, which will obviously give you an upper hand over your opponents.
Although the weapon they give you at the start of each dungeon sucks, it’s still a lot better and safer than going in without a gun. Get rid of the common weapon only if and when you’re able to get a more powerful gun.
Tips for Soul Knight Veteran Players
If you’ve taken down some aliens in your spare time and have played Soul Knight for quite some time, here are some facts you need to expect to prepare for late game levels:
- Late-game weapons can appear from Chests and Shops.
- The Spaceship and Volcano, the two known environments from levels 3-1 to 3-5, are themed around two major elements, which are Poison and Fire. With this in mind Poison and Fire immunity are going to be lifesavers. Do not enter any of these biomes without the appropriate buffs! You can exit and reenter and hope the biome will have changed to the biome you have the buff for. If you have neither of those buffs, go for the Volcano biome as the debuffs here are less dangerous and more forgivable.
- You have to be careful in the Volcano biome without the Fire Buff, as you can take damage from the Lava Floors.
- For Spaceship, the three possible bosses you can fight are Zulan The Colossus, the bullet-hellish Floating Laser UFO, or the poisonous Varkolyn Leader.
- For Volcano, the three possible bosses you can fight the hellish Volcanic Sandworm, the easy Anubis, or the aggressive Baby Dragon Bros.
Some tips or tactics you could use for the later levels:
- It’s best to not go for high energy weapons with the 7-9 range cost. This is most likely the case with single targeting weapons, and this may drain your energy pretty quickly while you’re trying to deal with the overwhelming number of aliens.
- At least 1 melee weapon (laser weapons are really helpful) is recommended to bring with you because the higher the level, the more the enemies appear, so there will be tons of bullets to dodge and block through the level.
- With more elemental based attacks from level 3 and above, buffs for Poison or Fire are a must!
- For Zulan The Colossus and Floating Laser UFO, the Poison buff is useless. However, it helps in dealing with minor enemies, and whether this boss would appear is random.
- It is good to get to know the enemy lists of the floors, and find out the most dangerous ones to kill first.
- No pet buff? That’s going to be a bummer as without the buff the mercenaries can be killed easily and will be rendered useless. Make it a point to save gold for expensive potions.
- Mounts should also be bought before the boss as they effectively add an extra life.
